What the ItWorks Reps don’t tell you

Hey Everyone!

I decided to completely quit itworks about 2.5 months ago, and the first time I “quit”, my uplines were all trying to talk me into staying, which I did for another couple of weeks, but I really did quit for good then.

I know I have talked about my reasons for quitting in another post, and how the products were making me sick and not working and all that good stuff.

I had tried many of the products, including a couple wraps, defining gel, greens, greens chews, the complete nutrition pack (vitamins), fat fighters, thermofit, relief, probiotic, hair skin and nails, and the face peel. Of the pills, I was using many at the same time, so there was upwards of 12+ pills in addition to greens and chews that I was taking any given day. Some of the pills themselves caused an upset stomach and sessions in the bathroom, and when combined with the pills hole concoction only made it worse. Even when I was drinking enough water, greens themselves when I was taking them daily caused constipation, fun right?

Hair skin and nails worked while I was on it, but after I quit taking it, my hair was falling out, and fast. For a long while after I quit, my hair was coming out in clumps. My hair has now thinned out in spots to the point it is noticeable.

Most distributors aren’t straight up honest about the 3 month commitment or $50 membership fee to get the distributor price for the products. I have also found most Itworks reps to be pushy and there are too many that are back stabbing as well.  One thing I had kept hearing was “it typically takes 8 to 12 follow ups to get someone to sign up”, and that just didn’t sit right with me. When someone doesn’t want something, No means NO.

While I was an Loyal Customer, before becoming a Distributor I had this one chick on Instagram randomly picked me and began constantly bugging me to become a distributor on her team, and I kept telling her no. After I had become a distributor I also had other distributors harassing me to join, after I had already joined, and I was like what the heck? I have my itworks profile private for a reason, and what gives them the audacity to cold message me, basically demanding I become a distributor on their team, when they can’t even see my posts?” The whole cold messaging someone when they either haven’t accepted, have rejected or just straight up messaging someone without sending a follow request is tacky, rude, and harassment. This tactic only makes people not want to join your company that much more.

I had also heard “everyone needs it, they just don’t know it yet”, that is also a bunch of bologna. I was fed a bunch of lies, and was impressed upon to sell, sell, sell, and post 6 times a day on Instagram and Facebook. Some of you may already know how annoying it is to constantly be seeing people push the products they sell, and you aren’t interested, yeah itworks is one of those.

The “friends” I made while doing itworks, once I moved on, fell off the face of the planet, which I had expected. I knew they wouldn’t stick around or be supportive of what I was doing once I was no longer participating in the business, that is how clicks go. They were totally nice and all, but it was time for me to move on.

Itworks has gotten itself a bad name, at the hands of its distributors. But it’s not the only.

I couldn’t honestly promote a line of products that didn’t work for me, and had such bad side effects, and honestly aren’t that good for you. I would just as soon eat a balanced and healthy diet, and exercise.

No longer doing ItWorks

Hey Everyone!

I know I wrote a similar post here recently, then deleted it. I am back to put into words the crossroads I have come to.

After roughly 6ish months of promoting and using ItWorks products I came to a point where at best they weren’t working for me, and at worst they made me sick. I also saw no results while using the products. I had pretty much stopped taking the products about a month ago and have been trying to let my body detox from the products.

I am back on my good old trusty $8.99 Safeway Care probiotics that actually work, and I can clearly see what’s in it.

Now that I am really focused on living a more natural and healthy lifestyle, with the exception of probiotics, I want to get all my vitamins and nutrients from the food I eat. I have found that the Probiotics I have been taking for the last couple years really have helped by body digest and tolerate foods better considering I have food intolerances.

I also didn’t like that the ItWorks products have no real scientific and medical research to back it up, the products are unregulated and I really am not a fan of putting stuff in my body when there is no research saying it is safe.

It also got to be super expensive, in order to get paid, consultants are all but forced to maintain an autoship of 80 BV (that cost a minimum of $80, usually more) and spend $20 a month to keep your website active. When you are working your rear end off and you aren’t signing anyone up no matter how hard you try, you are losing money, not making it, and I got to the point where I couldn’t justify spending $100+ a month o products I couldn’t stand behind and didn’t believe in.

Being a consultant also took a lot of my free time, which is hard to come by when you also work full time. I was taught the 3/3 rule, which is each day you post 3 ItWorks posts and 3 lifestyle posts. When you spend 10 hours a day 4 days a week on nyour computer working for a real paycheck, you don’t have fresh material for lifestyle posts. I also found it hard to set aside time on my days off to post, because I preferred to actually live life than spend my day on my phone.

Yes I did become a Scentsy consultant. I did that for a completely different reason, I had been a fan of the products for a year before I signed up, and I joined because I wanted to see what was coming out before it was released. I also wanted to earn back some money off what I spent on products. It also works better for me, because I post about it when I want to and have the time. I also make videos, because it is fun. I loved the products before I was a consultant and I will continue using the products if and when I am no longer a consultant.

What it really comes down to, is that I tried it, it didn’t work for me, now I am moving on, and really focusing on my health and well being.

Going more Natural

Hey Everyone!

Over the course of the last few months, since I began using ItWorks and Perfectly Posh products that are naturally based, I was reminded of something I had really wanted to start doing a while back. That is to live a more natural lifestyle. That started when I had to go dairy free, and generally gluten free.

I have wanted to use naturally based products for many reasons, mostly health related so that I felt better inside and out, and reduced the chances to have a reaction to products. I still have to be careful about the products I use, and reading labels, as some “natural” products really aren’t all that natural.

Having grown up, and spent most of my life in the Pacific Northwest, in the part of said region that is all about recycling, composting, and is driven primarily liberal politics, at some point some of that “natural lifestyle” was bound to rub off, since I have been saturated in my whole life. Having to go Dairy Free and limit gluten, has definitely pushed my toward it that much more. I have also been trying to educate myself on how bad these man made chemicals really are for our bodies and the environment (every time you shower, brush your teeth, and so much more, you are putting chemicals down the drain then are put into the sewer or septic system and have to be dealt with, and end up in the environment). These chemicals have been connected to causing cancers and other health issues that were not around, or if they were around not as prevalent 100 year ago as they are today.

For the past year or two, I have been using a laundry soap that I mix up myself (it is one of those DIY laundry soaps I found on Pinterest), it uses Borax, Fels Naphtha, and Arm & Hammer super washing soda. Ever since I was little, I (or my parents) had to be super careful with what they used to wash my clothes, as I have broken out in hives with several different brands of laundry detergents, and I can’t use anything that is super strongly scented or I break out.

As for other cleaning products, I like Mrs. Meyers Clean Day and Seventh Generation cleaning products. I am not adverse to keeping some lysol around the house for tough situations or to give the house a good thorough cleaning (especially after having had a cold or something), but for normal day to day, I prefer the natural products, that for the day to day cleaning are just as good and won’t put too many crazy chemicals on or in my body.

While I am well on my way to living a more natural lifestyle, there are many things I am not going to give up, like personal hygiene aka brushing my teeth, showering, using deodorant, doing laundry regularly etc. I am still a firm believer in all of that, I am just choosing to use more natural ways for doing them that are better for me and the environment.

´╗┐Perfectly Posh and Scentsy

Hey Everyone!

As many of you know I am an ItWorks distributor, which I love. Over the past year I have found two more Direct Sales companies that I also love and purchase products from regularly. About a year ago I found Scentsy which I fell in love with. A few months ago I found Perfectly Posh, because a friend of mine sells it.

I have my business that I love, and products that I love. I also love when I find other products that I love just as much and being able to help and support my friends.

I found that Perfectly Posh has a body butter called Portlandia, and it smells a little like roses and being outside, which is totally part of what Portland is known for. Portland is one of the few places you can go hiking in the winter where there is no snow in the ground and isn’t completely brown. I became a fan of Scentsy because the bars make the house smell amazing.

I also love that there is a body butter named after my city, that is natural and hand crafted and is also available company wide.

I am all for supporting the small, local businesses and people who are independent distributors for companies that have amazing products that are along the lines of things that I support.

I am from the generation and region that is seeing the negative side effects of seeing what all the chemicals that have been put in our cleaners, beauty products and food are causing.

Growing up, especially in my teenage years I knew natural options were out there, but I didn’t want any part of it, as they were considered counter culture and counter to how I was being raised and contrary to what I should want. The natural products were only something the “dirty hippies” and those who wanted to live alternative lifestyles wanted, and I was supposed to be a “good girl” who wanted “normal” products. As I got older, and went to College, and experienced adverse reactions to the mainstream man-made chemical products, to where, I began looking for natural alternatives that still get me just as clean if not more so.

Scentsy Haul

Hey Everyone!

I have become one of those girls who comes across a DS company and falls in love from day one, and 8 months later I have something like a dozen plus warmers, and a three drawer storage container full of bars, yet still orders more bars and a new warmer.

This order, I got the forest meadow wrap and the travertine core. I also got 10 bars for myself. I got a southern evening, Sedona sunset, Rockin Ruby Razz, orange pop, Mountain Sky, and several of Blackberry Meringue.

I know I am already an ItWorks distributor, and that is my primary / main DS company. I have been considering joining Scentsy as a hobby / side DS company, so that I can get the samples every season and discounts and that kind of thing. Beings that I already love the products, I might as well right.

So ready for Summer Food (WIAW)

Hey Everyone!

Well it is starting to feel like summer, which for me means that the only thing I am really looking forward to is all the fresh local fruit and berries.

For breakfast this morning I had a bowl of baked oatmeal, three brown and serve turkey breakfast sausages, and a fruit plate.

Throughout this morning I have been drinking my tea, as well as my first litre of water. I also had my ItWorks Greens in 8 oz of cran-cherry juice, and my greens chews.

As a snack this morning I had a Vans cranberry almond bar, which is pretty much like eating a gluten free dairy free nutrigrain bar.

For lunch I had a ham sandwich using franz 7 grain gluten free bread. I also had a banana and water.

This afternoon I ate a couple hot dogs, and for dinner I had some homemade vegetarian chili and a spinach salad as well as about half a litre of water.

Getting Back on Track (WIAW)

Hey Everyone!

*I am late getting this posted, I am sorry*

This past week has been a challenge for eating right. I don’t know what it is, whether it is stress, or my schedule being a little off or both, I was craving sugar and sweets this week. Yesterday I caved and made half a batch of chocolate chip cookies.

For breakfast I had two eating right for gluten free home style waffles, with some spread. I also had four brown and serve turkey sausages and a plate of fruit. I took my iron supplement, vitamin D, Hair Skin and Nails as well as my allergy meds.

About 8:30 I had my greens which I drank with a bottle of Diet Cranberry Juice, and I also took my Greens Chews.

I have also been drinking a mug of the republic of tea Blackberry Sage tea and water throughout the morning.

For lunch I had a ham sandwich on franz gluten free bread. I also had a banana and a couple of the cookies I baked yesterday.

I drank more water throughout the afternoon.

For dinner I had had some spaghetti and a salad.
