The Why I love Perfectly Posh Products

Hey Everyone!

I will be straight up honest with you all, I am a Perfectly Posh independent consultant, but that is not why I am writing this post.

The whole reason I became a Posh consultant was because the products worked for me. That fact in and of itself is worth every penny I spend on my own products. When I was first introduced to Perfectly Posh, I was a complete skeptic. I had been over at my friends house, helping her sister watch her 3 little boys that morning as she had had to go into work for a meeting before going back to work the following Monday at the end of her maternity leave with her youngest. After she had returned home, she, here sister and I were just hanging out and her sister had brought Posh over (either that she had purchased or borrowed from the sister who’s house we were at), and I was curious so they let me smell the products. A few months later I was having some issues with my face breaking out, and out of curiosity been looking around my friends Posh site, when I found the smashing good pumpkins and decided to give it a try. To say the least, it worked. I started trying more things, and was hooked. Because it was working for my skin, when everything else I had tried had not worked, I was sold.

After a few months of purchasing products and liking pretty much everything I have tried (I think there is only one or two of the many I have tried that weren’t for me, which doesn’t mean it’s a bad product, because it would work for someone else) I have liked and has worked well for me.

The whole reason I became a consultant was to earn commission back on the products I use and want to try. I have done other Direct Sales stuff, and had the products affect my health in a negative manner.

Rarely do I advocate products I use, and I am not the kind of person to advocate products for the sake of earning money.

November Scentsy & Perfectly Posh additions

Hey Everyone!

This past week, my Scentsy and Perfectly Posh orders were delivered.

This month from Scentsy, I had ordered a Morning Sunrise Nightlight, which is simple and beautiful, as well as three bars of Lavender and White Balsam, which smells amazing. Lavender and White Balsam is definitely a very wintery scent that is not super overpowering or strong which I like. I had pulled the Morning Subrise warmer out of the box and put it together and turned it on long enough to see what it looked like on, and I love it. It will be perfect in a hallway or bathroom at night, it is bright enough to light the way and see what you are doing without being too bright. I also really like the design. While I am a consultant, I am a customer first and foremost. I won’t buy a warmer unless I like it, and even then, I have to really like it since I have had a year to be building my warmer stash up. I am also picky about fragrances.

One thing I have learned about being a consultant, that I am glad I am learning now, when I am still new and have a small customer base it to have stock on hand, especially new/seasonal scents. As well as learning what my loyal local customers like, and keep some bars of each on hand. I got into Scentsy because I have always liked candles and the glade wall plug ins, but wanted something that was less of a fire hazard, non – aerosol, and made out of better ingredients and better scents.

This month I also ordered some perfectly posh products. I had ordered 3 fall out girl chunks, 2 gender Bender chunks, 1 rolling in the deep chunk,  2 dressed to chill big fat yummy hand cremes, 3 Orange cara mellow caffeinated lip balms, a pack of Blissed Out scrub samples and a pack of Vitamin Sea shampoo and Off Shore Restore conditioner samples. I am working on building up my stash of samples for customers and potential customers to try the products and see what they think of it. One thing I found out that I am bummed about is that the Blissed out scrub has non fat dry milk in it, which means I won’t be using it as I avoid touching anything with dairy in it, and if I have to handle dairy I wash my hands like a crazy person so I don’t absent-mindedly  put something in my mouth that has contaminated with dairy. I am bummed because this was one of my favorite scents – it smells like sprite or 7 up.

As many of you know, I was introduced to Perfectly Posh by a friend of mine, and decided to try the smashing good pumpkin clay mask a few months later. I was hooked. The fact that Posh prides itself on using more natural ingredients is amazing! I have noticed such a difference with my skin. Using the BFF face cleanser then following that with a mask then using the Night & Day moisturizer or Apricots Overnight to moisturize has really helped my skin.

Sticking to what is right for me

Hey Everyone!

I am still very much in the middle of my journey of transitioning from products that are chalked full of man made chemicals and synthetics that research is now showing is linked to many diseases that have exploded since the greatest generation was my age to using more natural products with natural ingredients that are actually good for your skin. Besides the fact that all these chemicals and such gross me out, I have always had super sensitive skin and would break out with rashes if the wrong kind of laundry detergent is used. I always use free and clear laundry detergent when I do laundry.

Knowing how sensitive my skin is, not only do I worry about all the chemicals, I also worry about how strong the scent is, and how the chemical make up will react when it comes into contact with my body chemistry.

I have struggled for years to find a skin care routine and a deodorant that do their jobs, are fairly natural and work with my body chemistry. Since I found perfectly posh, my skin has been doing so much better. I am also loving how well the unscented Native deodorant is working for me. I have had so many drug store and natural brand deodorants cause uncomfortable rashes under my arms, which were only made worse by shaving. TMI and as gross as it may be for many of you, I stopped shaving my arm pits and use native deodorant.

This whole adjustment to do what is best for my body certainly hasn’t been easy when it has been a lot of going against the cultural and societal norms, yet I am still too normal or mainstream to really be a part of any subculture. I am somewhere in the middle. Finding that middle ground that works for me, and being at odds with both sides has been challenging. It really comes down to being OK with who I am, and embracing that individuality, and sticking to my guns.

I, personally have been met with my fair share of resistance, skepticism, ignorance, and just flat out belief that I am wrong just because what is best for me, and my well being goes against cultural norms. I have spent as much time as I can, educating myself so I can give facts in support of why what I am doing, is the best option for me.

I am by no means an expert, but I have had to learn all that I know about dairy free, gluten free, natural ingredients, natural lifestyle, fewer chemicals all on my own, as I didn’t have anyone to guide me, or give me tips and tricks.

There is still a lot I am still learning. If there are any topics along the lines of dairy free, generally gluten free (going completely gluten free is still something I am working on), transitioning to natural skin care products, no red meat, limiting use of eggs to baked goods, or some other topic within reason you want me to post about, leave me a comment below.

No more Sodium Tallowate

So what is Sodium Tallowate anyway?

It was just today that I learned that Sodium Tallowate is Lard (animal fat), and I am like, Really? It’s the 21st century and soap manufacturers are still using Lard in their products?

I am appalled by the fact that Lard, as well as other synthetic products are so commonly used in everything from food to skin care products.

Ingredients are so important, not only in what we eat but also in what we use on our bodies. There have been studies linking specific ingredients to different diseases. If I am knowingly able to reduces my risk of specific preventable diseases, by changing the products I use, I will do it.

This is what my life has come to

Hey Everyone!

Since I quit doing ItWorks, I have started feeling better, and trying to get my body back to normal.

I am still doing Scentsy, and I enjoy that. I am also going to be doing Posh. I am doing both of those because I am a long time customer and I can’t imagine going back to a life without either. Both are really hobbies, because I love the products. I was a Scentsy customer for a year before I became a consultant. I have been using Perfectly Posh for about 6 months now and I have actually seen an improvement in my skin. I won’t promote a company, product or line of products that I don’t believe in.

The products I use also have to be falling in line with the healthier lifestyle I am trying to live. ItWorks really doesn’t fit in with that. I was taking greens, greens chews, and as many as 13 pills a day that weren’t FDA Approved while doing ItWorks. I also did not see results. I also felt pressured to stick it out, because it would “take off” in time. When it came down to it, it wasn’t for me, and the life I want to live.

Living a healthier life is a choice, and takes effort and consistency.

Lately I have been slacking on the sticking to clean eating thing, which I am really trying to get back into, and really stick to being gluten free, I haven’t been doing as well with that. I know I would feel so much better.

Doing what’s best for Me

Hey Everyone!

During the past few weeks, I have had a tough time sticking with ItWorks, especially when the products don’t work for me, and the fact that I had been at it for almost 6 months and I really wasn’t growing. It became more time consuming and not really worth the effort. I also wasn’t thrilled to be pushing products that I couldn’t personally endorse for various reasons. I am not saying that it’s a scam, but it just wasn’t for me. Due to my food intolerances and sensitivities, some of the products irritated my system and set it off. I am still a distributor if anyone wants anything, I am just not actively promoting the products.

I had joined Scentsy as a consultant last month, beings that I had been a customer for a year prior to joining, and actually loved the products prior to joining. I joined solely because I love the products. The money I earn is just an added bonus, I would be buying the products anyway.

Lately I have also been learning about essential oils, and the power they have to help your body, I figure I might as well give them a try, especially the blends to help your immune system and that help with allergies and that kind of thing.

Taking care of myself and being the best I can be has been at the top of my list of things I need to do for a while, I am finally doing it, and pursuing what I am passionate about.

August Posh Haul

Hey Everyone!

I will get to my August Perfectly Posh Haul shortly. I just wanted to take a couple minutes to talk about the recent blog title changes and such that my blog is going through. When I had renamed it to Portlandia Life, I was definitely in a mindset of not wanting to leave Portland, due to somethings I had going on. I have resolved that and I am back to wanting to move and travel and pretty much take this show on the road so to speak. I will still great miss my friends and my friends 3 little boys.

Now that my goals, dreams and such are back on track with what I had wanted in the first place I wanted this blog to reflect that. My main purpose is to share my experience of trying to live a healthier, more natural lifestyle wherever I am living. Right now that happens to be Portland, which has an abundance of my kind of food, and where the lifestyle I have is definitely tolerated/accepted a lot better than in other parts of the country that are more conservative.

So back to my perfectly posh haul. I have come to love these products and the company. I am now seriously trying to find the products I love and get set for winter, as that is the hardest on my skin. Trying to stay healthy and keep my skin for becoming dry and cracked are two of my main concerns which I am working on dealing with now.

In this box was a tube of the vitamin sea shampoo, the immunator skin stick, a one smart cookie caffeinated lip balm, a rehab solid lotion bar, apricots overnight moisturizing mask, the BFF exfoliating face wash, the snowed in sugar lip scrub, the tranquilizer snarky bar, an all fall down and dressed to chill big fat yummy hand creme. Not pictures is the MFEO (Mint for each other) chunk and the sister I’m a poet big fat yummy hand creme).

When you Find a skin care line you love

Hey Everyone!

I have finally found a line of Skin Care products that I live and actually works for me.

A few months ago I was over at my friend’s house, as her sister and I had watched her boys for a bit while she had to work. After she had come home, she and her sister were talking about Perfectly Posh, and a few months later I ordered my first perfectly posh products. Since then I have been building my  accumulation of Posh Products.

Above, I have shown all the full size items I have either bought, been given or got as a sample.

Items shown above:

•Smashing Good Pumpkin anti acne face and body clay

•BFF (Best Face Forever) Facewash

•Hairy Beast Shave Gel

•Daily Grind Snarky Bar

•It’s Da Bee’s Knees body scrub

•Love The Dark Black Sea salt body scrub

•Whole Lava Love volcanic ash face exfoliator

•Amaaazing big fat yummy hand creme

•I scream for ice cream big fat yummy hand creme

•Portlandia Skindelicious body butter

•Pout About It peppermint lip balm.

There are so few skin care products that are as natural based as posh products. I have also spent years trying to find products that actually work on my combo/oily skin and deal with drying without over drying my skin.

I have spent the last couple months dealing with my skin breaking out, and Posh totally cleared up my skin. Everyone’s experience with the products will be different, Perfectly Posh works for me, and they have a great selection of products.

If you want to order and try any of the products, feel free to order.  You can find my Friend’s Posh Site Here. She and I are also having a party going on, so if you order, be sure to select Erica’s Posh Party in the party drop down menu, and ship directly to you.

Going more Natural

Hey Everyone!

Over the course of the last few months, since I began using ItWorks and Perfectly Posh products that are naturally based, I was reminded of something I had really wanted to start doing a while back. That is to live a more natural lifestyle. That started when I had to go dairy free, and generally gluten free.

I have wanted to use naturally based products for many reasons, mostly health related so that I felt better inside and out, and reduced the chances to have a reaction to products. I still have to be careful about the products I use, and reading labels, as some “natural” products really aren’t all that natural.

Having grown up, and spent most of my life in the Pacific Northwest, in the part of said region that is all about recycling, composting, and is driven primarily liberal politics, at some point some of that “natural lifestyle” was bound to rub off, since I have been saturated in my whole life. Having to go Dairy Free and limit gluten, has definitely pushed my toward it that much more. I have also been trying to educate myself on how bad these man made chemicals really are for our bodies and the environment (every time you shower, brush your teeth, and so much more, you are putting chemicals down the drain then are put into the sewer or septic system and have to be dealt with, and end up in the environment). These chemicals have been connected to causing cancers and other health issues that were not around, or if they were around not as prevalent 100 year ago as they are today.

For the past year or two, I have been using a laundry soap that I mix up myself (it is one of those DIY laundry soaps I found on Pinterest), it uses Borax, Fels Naphtha, and Arm & Hammer super washing soda. Ever since I was little, I (or my parents) had to be super careful with what they used to wash my clothes, as I have broken out in hives with several different brands of laundry detergents, and I can’t use anything that is super strongly scented or I break out.

As for other cleaning products, I like Mrs. Meyers Clean Day and Seventh Generation cleaning products. I am not adverse to keeping some lysol around the house for tough situations or to give the house a good thorough cleaning (especially after having had a cold or something), but for normal day to day, I prefer the natural products, that for the day to day cleaning are just as good and won’t put too many crazy chemicals on or in my body.

While I am well on my way to living a more natural lifestyle, there are many things I am not going to give up, like personal hygiene aka brushing my teeth, showering, using deodorant, doing laundry regularly etc. I am still a firm believer in all of that, I am just choosing to use more natural ways for doing them that are better for me and the environment.

Perfectly Posh and Scentsy

Hey Everyone!

As many of you know I am an ItWorks distributor, which I love. Over the past year I have found two more Direct Sales companies that I also love and purchase products from regularly. About a year ago I found Scentsy which I fell in love with. A few months ago I found Perfectly Posh, because a friend of mine sells it.

I have my business that I love, and products that I love. I also love when I find other products that I love just as much and being able to help and support my friends.

I found that Perfectly Posh has a body butter called Portlandia, and it smells a little like roses and being outside, which is totally part of what Portland is known for. Portland is one of the few places you can go hiking in the winter where there is no snow in the ground and isn’t completely brown. I became a fan of Scentsy because the bars make the house smell amazing.

I also love that there is a body butter named after my city, that is natural and hand crafted and is also available company wide.

I am all for supporting the small, local businesses and people who are independent distributors for companies that have amazing products that are along the lines of things that I support.

I am from the generation and region that is seeing the negative side effects of seeing what all the chemicals that have been put in our cleaners, beauty products and food are causing.

Growing up, especially in my teenage years I knew natural options were out there, but I didn’t want any part of it, as they were considered counter culture and counter to how I was being raised and contrary to what I should want. The natural products were only something the “dirty hippies” and those who wanted to live alternative lifestyles wanted, and I was supposed to be a “good girl” who wanted “normal” products. As I got older, and went to College, and experienced adverse reactions to the mainstream man-made chemical products, to where, I began looking for natural alternatives that still get me just as clean if not more so.
